Most of the Indian medical Graduates think that MBBS abroad is worthless but foreign medical graduates say otherwise.
So what exactly is the reality?
I will try to cover all the arguments which Indian and foreign medical graduates give to justify their saying.
But why MBBS abroad?
You see, every year more than 15 Lakh Students give the NEET exam but not even 2% of students are able to get admission in government colleges in India and not many students are able to afford private colleges.
This is where MBBS abroad option comes in place for those students who want to do MBBS only, but don't want to take a drop or learn the same syllabus again.
But, whenever you ask any Indian medical graduate about MBBS Abroad, he/she will give the following arguments-
Low FMGE passing rate
Many people think that medical education abroad is not up to the mark just because Indian students are not able to clear the FMGE exam to work in India.
But, the problem is not in the education,
You see in the FMGE exam consist of syllabus of 6 years, so only those students are able to clear the FMGE exam who study regularly through their MBBS course with proper revision.
Clinical Experience
It is often said that the clinical experience of foreign medical graduates is not good. But the real reason behind that is the language barrier. Students need to learn the local language to interact with patients and only those students are able to communicate properly who have a good command of the local language.
Most of the people in USSR countries don't speak the English language so learning the local language is compulsory to make your clinical experience good.
But in this case, you also have a choice.
You can go for MBBS in Phillipines as a lot of people speaking the English language so you and recently, the internship from the Philippines has also been made valid in India.
These are the 2 main reasons Indian medical graduates give regarding MBBS abroad.
Now, let's look at the other aspects-
Education
The level of education in abroad is quite good, but the only problem is that in some non-English speaking countries, the fluency of some teachers in English language is not that good. Otherwise, most of the teachers in countries like Philippines, Ukraine, Russia are Doctors or Post graduates.
Facilities and Infrastructure
This is where foreign medical universities are better than medical colleges in India. Of course, it depends on university to university.
There are only 18 students in a group in medical universities abroad so the professors are able to focus on each student particularly and there are ample amount of resources for each group, it's all up to the student whether they utilize the resources and facilities provided.
International Exposure
When a student goes abroad, he/she meets a lot of people from different countries, learn about different cultures and ideas. Along with studies, the student also learns how to be independent. This is also the same for Indian students who get admission in different states.
It makes a big difference, and you will not hesitate to go to any foreign country for your post-graduation.
At last,
Medical seats in India are very less and unfair to so many students. So it is not bad to take admission abroad.
But you should keep in mind that you must study regularly even after going abroad, only then you will be able to make it worth it.
If you think that you have to learn a different language or your clinical experience will not be good, you can go for MBBS in Philippines as the curriculum and disease pattern are almost similar to that of India, and is also affordable just like Russia or Ukraine, etc.
